Abdulraheem Olarongbe Mahmoud is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, College of Health Sciences. He is concomitantly a Consultant Eye Surgeon at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin. He has twenty-four years of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He has served as Head of Department of Ophthalmology, Chairman of Board of Management of Unilorin Press, and Chairman University Health Education Committee. His areas of research interest include vitreoretinal surgery, ophthalmic laser application, and artificial intelligence in ophthalmology practice. He is well-published in several reputable national and international outlets including the Lancet journal. He won the Best Unilorin Researcher prize in 2012. He has successfully supervised 25 Residency Fellowship Examinations and had assessed 15 professors in 12 universities. He has won research grants and is a member of professional bodies within and outside Nigeria, the latest being Charter Foundation membership of the Artificial Intelligence Association of Nigeria.
