Dúpé̩ Ādémọ́lá-Pópóọ̄lá is a professor and Chairman/Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Ilorin and a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. 
A leading scholar and clinician in Paediatric Ophthalmology, she established the Paediatric, Strabismus, and Ocular Oncology Services at the Teaching Hospital. She graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Lagos (1991) and became board certified in Ophthalmology through the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOph) and the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in 2001.

She completed further specialized training in Pediatric Ophthalmology in India and Ophthalmic Oncology in India, Egypt, alongside various other institutions in the USA. A champion for child eye health, Professor Ademola-Popoola has led innovative national responses to
childhood blindness prevention, Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and Retinoblastoma—from clinical care and research to policy and advocacy. She is a pioneer in task-shifting models, integrating ROP care into neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) by training and empowering NICU staff. She also initiated vision screening at immunization clinics by community health workers and developed the Teacher-LED Vision Screener (TELVIS)—a patented tool enabling early detection of vision problems in schools. She is interested health systems strengthening, and the application of digital health technologies.

Her work bridges clinical excellence, research, and health systems innovation. She has developed digital tools such as a web-searchable map of schools for children with special needs and advanced the use of telemedicine for equitable child eye care.

Dúpé has held numerous leadership roles at the University of Ilorin, including Head of Department, Deputy Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee, and Director of Computer Services & IT (2020-2023). She contributed to the university’s transition to e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she is a Regional Advisor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Member Board of Trustees, American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also on the Executive committee and Council member of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS)and Faculty of Ophthalmology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.She delivered the Prestigious Victor Anomah Ngu Lecture of WACS in 2025 and was the Dr David Paton Global Visiting Professor at Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, USA in 2025.
